No, the speaker mount is only to hold the speaker in. It does not have anything to do with the radio. The metal strap (shaped like a hockey stick) mounts to the dash body on one end, and then a screw goes through the short end of the bracket into the body of the radio on the passenger side. And yes, the front bolts through the dash with nuts on the shafts of the radio.
