After reading all the posts in this thread so far, I'm confused which part of the seat you are trying to remove. You must first remove the bottom part of the seat. (the part you actually sit on) Yes, you must push the front facing portion about eight inches from each end while pushing upwards to unhook. After you unhook both sides, the entire bottom part will lift out. Then the back part of the seat has two bolts at the bottom that need to be removed and then you can lift upward. But you shouldn't need to remove the pack part to change seatbelts. Hope this helps.
