I have noticed a wide difference in gas pump delivery rates and sensitivity. I always fill both my Bird and GMC van manually at a rate slower/under the first "automatic" detent to avoid splash back and cutoff. My van (312,000 miles now) has never tollerated filling fast. It always makes me cringe when the gas kicks back on the van's filler and runs down on the hot tailpipe that sticks out directly under it.
