Boomstick, I also had the same problem,I even ordered a new ignition switch, still had the same problem, I have the small diode but didn't want to cut up the orginial wiring, so I pulled the Gen light out from under the dash and now it works. I have gauges so I know the charging system is working. It's a tem fix,still scratching my head on what to do next, if I find a fix I'll let you know. Good Luck.
