You don't need a head unit, secret audio, remote controllers, etc....
The only head unit I have is the AM radio - just for looks.
iPod -> digital volume control -> amps -> speakers. That's it. I actually have iPod connectors & regular audio mini jack - so I can use any type of audio device, but I personally use the iPod or my iPhone... it charges it and everything!
