My '69(originally 2 BBL) came with an Edelbrock intake manifold and Edelbrock 4 BBL carb installed. The Edelbrock carb is really just a (license-built) version of the Carter AFB and is almost identical to the (original) Carter AFB on my 327/300 HP '65 Sting Ray, which runs really well with a carb that hasn't been rebuilt/tuned or adjusted in more than 25 years! I have no issues with Quadrajets (had them on my '68 Sprints (2) back in the late '70s), but I wouldn't dismiss the Carter (Edelbrock) option for reliability and simplicity.
