This is a built, complete and ready to drop in Pontiac 400 engine, from oil pan to carb, dist etc. Perfect runner and ready to drop in. I bought it with a car since the owner did not want to separate the engine. I believe this is a ZX code, 72-73 GTO engine block, the engine was fully rebuilt, has new gaskets and hoses, etc.
I am in no hurry to sell and basically want to sell to recoup some of my funds on the purchase. I also have the complete bellhousing with parts, as well as a Muncie 4 speed I can include for extra.
Looking for $2500 for the engine. I have headers, etc I will include.
The gentlemen I bought from had a shop build the setup about 5 years ago, and mentioned he paid almost $5000 for the build, and per his specs the engine should be pushing in the 400 to 450 HP range. However I have no paperwork, but you can see all the new gaskets, and other signs of the rebuild. The engine has a more aggressive cam, sounds mean however runs very smooth. I made the car run before I sold the car and it drove like a bat out of hell, I literally almost pissed myself as the car took off and I could not get traction on the old BFG tires
Reason of sale is I am going with a (flamesuit is on ) LS swap with a manual 6 speed, otherwise I would not sell it.
I believe I have additional specs on the setup (heads, etc), so will do some digging and post. Will also update the ad with pics, but basically imagine a Pontiac 400 engine painted black with chrome Edelbrock valve covers and intake, etc for the time being.
Located in Northern CA, Bay Area. Prefer local buyers but willing to help with shipping (I have used forwardair.com before, however you can get free estimates using uship.com as well). I estimate a few hundred bucks to ship the engine. I have more funds on the price of the engine as I sold teh car fairly cheap (68 Firebird), so priced accordingly and hopefully this will be a great setup for someone here at a fraction of a rebuild. Again, this is a complete setup, ready to drop in, stored indoors and it is a shame someone is not having fun with it.
