I got the same seal for my 69,same problem as you,held rear of hood up thickness of seal.I threw it away and don't use a seal. Maybe a seal from soft seal would work? softer material. http://www.soffseal.com/store/main.aspx?p=itemdetail&item=3023 I haven't tried them though.
