I would check the reviews on the retro sound. Maybe look at the Camaro forum. I don't recall if that radio or another was getting some pretty bad reviews.

What I plan on doing is this

converted to PLL AM/FM Stereo with an output power of 45 watts per channel. The only change to the face is a small LED just past the 16 behind the radio dial on the above radio. This LED lights green for FM, yellow when tuned to a stereo FM station and red for AM. You can't see it when the radio is off. This LED will go out when the AUX input is activated too.

I like the idea of leaving the stock AM radio in place. To most thieves they don' to have any value.
