The Chevy rear end is weaker than the original rear end from your car, the best choice for a replacement rear end is an 8.5 out of a 2nd gen Firebird/Camaro. They are more plentiful, much stronger, and parts are more readily available & cheaper. You would have to shorten your driveshaft approx. 1". Also would need to use your old spring perches on the 8.5 to fit properly.
