Hi all. Well after extensive research using various parts books, literature and other internet related sources I still have doubts about the correct original distributor part numbers for the following birds::
1967 /326 engine/2bbl/automatic/smog pump/ distributor number 1111199 1968/350 engine/2bbl/automatic/ distributor number 1111165 1968/400 engine/4bbl/automatic/ac/ distributor number 1111270
I have conflicting info regarding the above distributor numbers............... Can any one confirm and substantiate which numbers are in fact correct? Also-whilst on the subject of distributors:
Can any one confirm if the following vacuum advance cans/control are correct for the above mentioned distributors: Distributor 1111199 vacuum control # 1973410 delco/nappa/standard/sorensen equivalent????????????????? Distributor 1111165 vacuum control # 1115365 delco/nappa/standard/sorensen equivalent????????????????? Distributor 1111270 vacuum control # 1973412 delco/nappa/standard/sorensen equivalent?????????????????
Also (heres a good one for you numbers guys) would anyone know by chance what codes/markings-stampings was on the original vacuum controls-from factory? for each of the ones mentioned above?????????? If in fact the above distributors are correct? I am led to believe that the stamping is along the lines of : the last 3 numbers of the vacuum control- then a number either 20-15? which indicated the vacuum advance degrees pull maximum- eg vacuum control # 1973412 would have a stamping ID of M (?) 412 then 11(?) I am not totally sure of this???????????????????
Just so everyone knows: I have used the following catalogs/parts books to do my past research- and it seems I am going around in circles? Joe Moores -Pontiac Firebird Guide- Orignal Pontiac Parts catalog 1968 Pontiac service manual- page 6E-25 AMA SPECS FROM FIRSTGENBIRD SITE FIRSTGENSITE.COM engine code page http://thefirstgensite.com/html/enginecodes.htm
Looking forward to hear every ones input and opinion. All the best Claude from downunder
