Guys, trying to track down some transmission information, and I’m not even sure where to look. Maybe you can help.
My latest project is a ’68 350 convertible. It has it’s born with engine, but a PO swapped out the transmission years ago with a 70’s something TH350.
The (what I believe is original) electric kick down switch and bracket came in a box of parts with the car, as well as the original wire harness with the two wires for the switch.
The 70’s something transmission has cables for a kickdown, and they are just laying on top of the engine.
So here is my question:
How can I tell if my car came originally with a TH350 or a powerglide?
The PHS just says “automatic”, and nothing more.
People keep telling me that the ‘68-’69 TH350 did not come with an electric kickdown.
The shifter has an L, 2, D as if it were a 3 speed. (verses L and D for a powerglide). Looks original too.
So I’d like to put in whatever would be ‘correct’ for my car, but all I seem to find is a TH350 with cable kickdowns.
Any idea where to start? PHS has been worthless in this aspect.
My car is a July 1968 build, so VERY late in the model year if that matters.
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.
