I am the "family idiot savant" according to the family.
When it comes to Birds..I can inspect a 67 or 68 without a book, notes, manual...and tell within a great degree of certainty what is incorrect, what is major, minor, and whether the asking price is in line...or better yet, what the car should be worth...or better yet, what I would pay retail.
It is a passion...an art..an obsession. I may not know electrical, carb tuning, rear end angle set up, degreeing a cam as well as other guys here on the board, but hey...we can't be proficient everywhere. That's what makes the site so great!
A few know the Firebird A few know transmissions A few know cooling issues A few know electrical A few know suspension A few know engine specs/tuning
That cohesiveness is what makes FGF a user friendly and orientated site.
By the way, coming to ya'll soon...a very fun Q and A session with pictures called "NAME THAT PART"
I have always wanted to have a section or a database of bolts, nuts, fasteners, linkage....etc for the restorer. Many different bolts, threads...applications..all 67-69 specific.
Would be a good reference point for guys restoring cars with correct or incorrect parts that want to restore to concours...or just plain [censored] correct.
