I can't think of a worse Job then dropping the transmission on our cars. I changed out a torq converter over the weekend in my bird. I didn't look forward to it at all. I have a plug for the drive shaft but between the what fluid I lost pulling out the drive shaft, pulling the dipstick, and the Trans slipping off the jack, Looked like a blood bath when I was done. My X-cross over exhaust didn't allow me drop it strait down.
2 1/2 hours to drop the trans 2 1/2 hours to clean up the mess 1 hour trip to store for new nuts and bolts and floor dry 3 hours install to be mostly done. minus distributor.
Could barley move the next day.
I honestly think it would have been easier to pull the whole motor out. I installed the motor and trans together when it went in. I have always hated messing the trans lines and found I absolutely had to remove the fancy stock dipstick tub to drop the trans for enough and I had to remove the top line in order to that.
Do they make a quick disconnect transmission line coupler that would work? Even if they did I doubt it would work for the top line since it snakes around the dipstick.
