I have headers and found the filter was way to close and space to grab it was at a minimum.

I made a huge mess the first time. Got oil all over my header wrap which took a good while to burn off.

So new procedure is:
Drill hole in filter to drain before removal
replaced filter with shorter filter (napa gold #1042)
oil filter wrench instead of pliers
