If it's the same car I'm thinking of. It's originally from Randolph nj about a 1/2 mile from me ..was owned by an older guy that bought it new I belive in boonton ,nj??? I looked at it a few years ago. It was clean and original. No tach on hood right?
Tony
That's the one, Tony. I'll look at the window sticker for the exact dealer name/location, but it was originally bought in NJ. I've thought about calling that old guy (in his 80s now) as I have his phone number and address from the original title. I have never met him, but have a picture of him standing in front of the car. Think it would be too weird to call him randomly?
Sleddog - yeah, I bought it from the guy in Chicago. He's the one that bought it from the guy in NJ and only owned it for about a year. Guy in Chicago was very knowledgeable about the first gens and had several other cars from this era in his shop and I remember seeing the Nancy Sinatra car for sale online. For being almost 50 years old the bird I bought still looks pretty darn good. Leaks a little oil and the radiator has started to leak a bit, but other than that it's nearly perfect mechanically. Paint is good for it's age, but sure would look awesome with a new paint job. The interior really doesn't need any work. I've talked to a few professional restoration companies and all have told me the same thing - don't restore a thing. It's only original once. I wanted a 68 unrestored 400/4 spd/vert survivor car and looked for almost 20 years to find one. When this one popped up on EBay I was getting it regardless of cost. I definitely paid good coin for it, but it actually appraised for more than what I paid so I feel good about it. Love this car!
PS - no clue how to post pics. Let me work on that and I'll post a few.
