Well, I was gonna edit & add more. But, I can't scroll down to the bottom of the post. So, I'll make another post.
Obviously the #215 heads will produce too much compression for pump gas. Would need Torco Accelerator octane booster, mix in some race gas, or run E-85. They might make decent heads for a good 400 build, using small dish pistons.
For a price, I figure a good 455 block is worth $600, 5140 RPM rods are $300, SP forged pistons are just over $300, the cam/lifters have to be worth at least $100, even if you have to sell 'em, The deep pan is worth at least $100, then you have the crank, balancer, timing cover, oil pump, bearings, rings, etc. Would cost at least $3k to build the short block. So, I'll price it at 1/2 that. Short block price = $1500. And, I'll even pay shipping up to $200. Anything over you pay, anything less I'll refund. Or, if you live close enuff to North Louisiana to pick it up, I'll knock off the $200, making the total price $1300. Will leave the heads on it for $300 more. Or, will include some 6x-8 cores for $200 more, and the new Chinese single plane for $100 more.
Hey, if you can find a better deal, buy it. I could use the money, but if it don't sell, I'll either eventually use it, swap it, or give it to a friend.
