First I flipped the stock washer on the stud and added another thin washer. The stud needed to go inboard a little.Next closed the latch and toke a measurement where it captures the
stud , SMALLER diameter. Went to Home Depot and purchased a carbide cutter for my Dremel. After grinding ( a few times) and closing the door a few times if finally opened by it
self without the need of hitting it with my hand. Now I need to buy some touch up paint to paint around the stud washer.
Hope this someone who needs to replace a door latch.
