Dave, there`s never a dumb question, just dumb mistakes...lol

you need to install the fender extractor emblems first ,then install fender , meaning ,paint first , BUT you CAN install those afterwards w dbl sided tape, ( a friend of mine did that after he forgot to install them first !)
either case ,best to paint fenders off car then carefully install, use painters tape on edges to prevent scuffing , but dont forget to peel it off soon, otherwise you may peel the paint off too...read the instructions on the tape! friend of mine ( another) left his tape on for weeks while installing an A/C w fender off, no need to tell you what happened....its now being re-painted!
