I have used them a couple of times. They move A LOT of air. My biggest issue has always been finding a controller that will last.
I had a Taurus fan on my S10 for 4 or 5 years. I had to replace whatever controller I was using at least once and the relays a couple times. That was a Daily driver and saw A LOT of use.
I have a 65 Mustang that the Taurus fan wouldn't quite work on (too deep and hit the water pump), but a Ford Contour dual fan was an exact fit (I cut my core support and installed a 24" radiator from a 69 Mustang), Summit even has new ones in stock for cheap. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-620-104
NOTHING could keep this [censored] car cool in the summer with the A/C on in traffic until I installed this set up.
I haven't checked for fitment yet, but I'd like to try to run this set up on my firebird.
Couple things to note. You need an alternator can put out 80--90 Amps at idle. Upgraded 3 wire alternators are better than a "one wire". Most one wires charge based on RPM. Most 3 wires have a sensing wire that kicks up the amperage when it senses a voltage drop. The stock 60 amp Alternator on my Mustang COULD NOT keep the car charging when the fans were on high.
You need to install a GOOD controller. I've tried multiple brands, but the only one I've found that actually works is by autocoolguy. They're expensive as hell, but so far, it's lasted the longest of any I've ever used (3+ years). It has a soft start which is important on the Ford fans as they draw a lot of amperage. It has an A/C switch which kicks the fans on high when the A/C is on, and you can install an override switch, so if something does fail, the fans will run on high until you can get home and fix the issue.
