The short version is the title of this thread. Not sure what I've done, but I did something not right(grin).
I have a Secretaudio SST radio installed under front pass seat. It has a control head mounted under dash near the steering wheel. Manual says it needs a constant hot, plugged into a hot spade in the fuse box. If I do not start car frequently, battery dies.
I've come to find, radio really does not need constant hot. Looked for alternative power source. There are 3 wires connected to the switched spade in fuse box, don't think I should add a 4th. Unable to locate the factory radio wire out of the fuse box.
As a last resort, wired in a toggle switch. Constant hot in, radio out. This works fine. Installed switch into a 1/2" hole, bottom of dash(metal), near the emergency brake handle. Had to remove the floor lamp shield to install switch. Reinstalled shield, pushed the factory wires back under dash. Dome and floor light constantly on. Played w/the door switch, both sides, no help.
Using wire diagrams from this site, seems the glove box light is on same circuit There is no problems w/the glove box light. On/off as it should.
I removed the toggle switch from the dash. Noticed floor lamp shield was a bit loose. Reinstalled, seems tighter than before. Same constant on. Disconnected negative cable on battery to preserve battery.
Sorry for the book. Wanted to make you aware of what I did. Electrical issues are not my strong suit.
