Ron, that nipple looks like my old tank but I don't think you have too much to worry about as far a gas going up there and draining out since that line comes out in the back of your bumper. I never had any gas coming out there before and I think it is because it is higher then the filler neck. I drilled the hole in the same spot and welded the short line there. You do need some kind of nipple on the end to hold the hose on unless your going with a clamp of some sort. Post a pic of the one you got from inline tube. The one I bought doesn't go up.
