All lights pass thru the turn signal switch, you can check if you have brake lights at the connector for the turn signal switch at the steering column.
One wire at the terminal on the connector is fed from the brake switch, then it goes to the turn signal switch and comes back out to the connector feeding left and right brake lights.
you can check all of this with a test light right at the ribbon connector on the column.
