The '67 Firebird 8.2 ten bolt rearend utilized the same center section as a '67 Tempest-LeMans-GTO. The axle tubes pressed in were the same as the late '66 & 67-69 Tempest-LeMans-GTO. Pontiac axle division just set up a jig & welded on monoleaf spring perches for the '67 Bird. Due to the A-body rearend having the upper control arm perches, the '67 Birds had them too...just no bushings pressed in or A-body perches.
Interestingly in '69, the Birds shared their bare axle tubes with the new for '69 Grand Prix. Both of these rearends will have a flat spot on top of the axle tube inboard of the brake backing plate flange.
