I just wanted to throw this out for anyone looking for an alternative to 160 deg. or 180 deg. thermostats. I read a while back on a third gen web site that GM (AC Delco) makes a 170 deg. thermostat, but they don't advertise it due to the fact that the newer cars are designed to operate at higher temps. ie. 195 deg. Anyway I picked one up a while back and just came accross the box with the part number in case anyone is interested. The part number is AC Delco #10220957. The thermostat has 54mm on top of it, and I assume it would work on a first gen bird., but please don't quote me, just correct me.
