I've always wondered if my options were picked by the factory, the dealer, or the buyer- they are a strange mix:
-why spend the money on a power top and not power windows?
-why spend the money on a 400HO, but not upgrade the 3 sp to a 4 sp?
-why get the 8-track and 4 speakers (very pricey), but not FM radio?

I'd say my best option is either the deluxe interior or the HO, the worst option is the standard spare. The worst feature is definitely the drum brakes.
If it were 1968, and I were a 5 yr old with $5,000; for safety I'd definitely want the disc brakes, headrests, and shoulder belts. For comfort, I'd want power windows and FM. For performance I'd stay with the HO (smooth, 068 idle) and get a 4 speed.
