There is a lot of mystery and speculation on what cars recieved the Bird glass. But there has been no evidence as to specific options, or packages. There are early 68 cars with and with out. And the latest 68 I've heard that came with them was produced in July of 68 I believe.
It's not quite an actual etching process, (From what I've been told by professionals, you cannot properly etch tempered glass) if you look close, and study them, it's more like a screen printing process, that is then baked... They are actually white, not etched. I'm not positive of the actual process, but know some one who is.
Rumor has it they were produced by another company and subcontracted to do this... but then again... there are all kinds of rumors going around about this subject!
I'm going to make repros in Vinyl Graphics material in reverse, and apply them to the inside of the window. The window fuzzys should not damage them for quite some time, and if they do, I can replace them. BUT... mine is a 67 with the wing windows, so it's not like I'm trying to fool anyone!
Just one mans idea on how to recreate the look at an afordable price...
