Looks like one of Smokey Yunick's experimental engines. This was at the time of the Ford and Pontiac tunnel port heads. Chev wasn't about to be caught napping and had Smokey do some of his magic. Sure wish I could have been at that auction!
Finally, proof! There it is, a 1969 Canadian Firebird Chev Hemi as used in the Trans Am series and available at any Canadian Pontiac dealership at the time! Now don't you wish you lived up here?
