Quite a few years back (Mid summer) I picked up some shrimp and crab legs Friday for Saturday dinner. Saturday morning my boss called me at home and had a machine installation in another state not going well, needed me to go fix it for the customer. Should be a one day job and be back Sunday afternoon. Got there and it was total chaos. Turned out the field crew there walked off the job, not done much and the customer needed to be in production ASAP.
I ended up there for two weeks. I forgot about the seafood at home so nobody went by, I had turned the AC off as well.
When I got home I saw 4 cats on my front porch, not a good sign. I could smell it outside the house, opened the front door and nearly threw up. Gagged my way to the kitchen, opened the fridge door and lost the cookies. My fridge had picked that week to quite working. Must have been over 90 degrees in the house.
I had to air out the house for weeks, and pull up the carpet and throw away the drapes. The fridge got tossed, towels, linens and such got washed. It was sickening.
