I finished installing my 1/4 windows and thought I'd close the loop on my original question.
I ended up wrapping the windows up in bubble wrap and sitting them outside in the blazing FL sun. After a couple hours the trim just pulled right off. Installing the new trim had me stumped for a bit, but I got the rubber inserts warmed up a bit and applied just a bit of silicone spray. The chrome trim slid on with little effort.
