Well the Firebird has started for the first time!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't tell you all how happy I am. Or how anxious. I wanna go run it some more just to hear that sweet, sweet rumble but it's after 10 and my neighbor's window is all of 8 feet from my garage...
So exactly one year ago (4/19/06) I bought a 67 Firebird coupe that was missing many parts and hadn't run in "a decade or two" according to the previous owner. I've never done any restoration before so this has been a great learning experience. First time rebuilding an engine, first time rebuilding a transmission, first time rebuilding a carburetor. First time even owning a car that has a carburetor.
Anyhow tonight my fiancee and I did the final prep, hit the accelerator pedal a few times, and pushed the button (yes I have a button and yes it's temporary) then vroom it started up right away. I didn't expect that...thought for sure it wouldn't start. God that sounded awesome. I can still hear it. What a great 1st birthday for the bird
well many thanks to everyone for all the help. My lunch break for the past year has been spent reading firstgenfirbird, thefirstgensite, and classicalpontiac. On saturday I'll have some free time to change the oil and fire it up again...yessssssssssssssssss
oh yeah I got it all on video but in the excitement we forgot to shut off the camera so the file is quite long and large (180MB)...gotta figure out how to shrink that down
