My son was born on July 4th about 2 months premature. So working with the car, riding in the car, looking at the car has been none existant.
I've been granted a slight reprieve for thursday and friday for the Dream Cruise. However, my trunk lock has decided to fall into my trunk. I managed to pop the deck lid, but I have no idea if all the parts are there. It looked and operated pretty shady before, so I think that was one of the corners cut by the previous owner.
I don't have a 69 assembly manual and I searched but I think I'm doing it wrong.
I live in Ferndale but the car is in Madison Hgts. I'm heading out tonight to check it out.
Thanks Banshee. Well, it was in before, so that clip has to be in the trunk somewhere. I'm going to try and sort it out myself first. If I'm flumoxed, I'll PM ya. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Heading with others from the board somewhere on Woodward Friday...join in.
If you have pics of the FUBAR'D part or the assembly, I am sure someone here can pin it down. Otherwise, I can pick you up a spare cylinder assembly, some duct tape or a bungee cord.

Ok, so its "fixed" now. I can't even describe the cluster that is the current trunk locking situation. So basically, they (the previous dumbass owners) rigged the bird emblem to hold the lock in which I'm fairly certain is not even a firebird lock. So I had to "reshim" the whole mess with a bunch of washers and nuts to make the whole thing sit and butt up against the lock cutout. What a PITA.
So it looks like I'll be buying a whole new trunk lock set and bird emblem for the back panel.
Anyway, I'll be out tomorrow and Friday. Look for the silver and black convertible with the 69 plates. Schwing!
the lock is not like other years or Camaros like all the repo places try to sell you The bird emblem studs do hold it in place and the rod that opens the trunk is not straight, it is in two peices with a ball mount in the middle ( kinda hard to explain ) Mine is out and I can take pics tomorrow if you need. Let me know
Man, I learn new stuff every day on this board. So that being the case, if you can take a few pics then I can figure out what's really missing. Thanks!
The '69 trunk lock is held in place by two nuts that attach to the 'bird trunk lock bezel studs.
You may need to replace the bezel due to PO over tightening the nuts and breaking off the studs. Repo pieces are available thru almost everyone for about $25. Be careful on reinstallation not to over torque the nuts with captive washers.
I'm missing the part between the lock and the tail lamp panel, which I assume is the bezel. It's rigged so screws are actually screwing into the bird emblem. So it looks like new bird emblem and new bezel. Cool, thanks!!
I will try to take some pics of mine today, It is not installed so you can see what it looks like apart, I will also take a pic of the order they go in like an exploded view
