Got some more pics of the 67 this morning. Was looking good and promising until these showed up. One rocker was bad but then my heart sank when I saw this. That's some serious work to fix. Anyone here ever done a rear frame and pan replacement?

The rest of the body really isn't that bad, needs some floor work and a PS rocker. Quarters, roof, rails, glass channels and fenders all seem pretty solid. Just NE weather toasted the underside.
Comes with a very nice condition deluxe black interior... that I don't need.

I've got the left side looking like that.I'll be doing the full floor pan, rockers, and full trunk pan including the rails. I'm looking at pictures on a the Super Chevy web site called "Bodies and Panels" where they do a complete restoration on a 69 Camaro. You get a good idea of how to do it.

Great article Moonshot.

I have one car in the re-assembly stage right now but to be honest I'd love to rework an entire car like that.
I priced the sheetmetal that 67 needs that I'm aware of, floor, trunk, rails, rockers, quarter patch, and rear filler panel, about $1500. Actually it would be a fun project to me, but I think I'll look for a better candidate for my next project as I'd have $3000 in it and all that work to do. That 67 is $700, but shipping is $800. That killed the deal.

And man o man would you need some room to work for sure.

What I need is to find a NE snow bird heading this way with an empty trailer. Pay for their gas, give them a room for a night or two and a little for their trouble getting it here before they head on to Forida.

Hmmmm?
That'll never happen, but a nice thought.

ho,

first off where is the car? secondly this would be ab easy repair! we can do this together as im currently in the process of gutting the rear half of my bird to the verything you will attempt! im replacing the quarter skins, trunk floor, innner and outer wheelhouses and drop offs. i have a body guy as an advisor but will do this completely on my own. the only thing you need to do is to measure the location of the rear frame rails. the crash sheet's will give you this info as well. overall its a simple cut fit and weld scenario as im told. im not a body guy but as explained to me it what i do for a living just in a different capacity!if you need instruction let me know as i have the parts and know how to do what will be attempted as it looks like several people here in the very near future!also if you need new frame rails i have a set for sale. make a reasonable and there yours!

also beleive it or not you can find truckers dead heading from loads they have no return on to haul your car back. you only need to do a search on haulers to find one in the area coming through yours to drop off! i was told 300 from florida to indiana and thats covering gas and a night in the motel!

god bless and if you need further advice let me know with a pm.

andy

i spent 1900 for mine and i have 7000$ in it so far. havent even started the body work. just collecting parts to start. engine hasnt even seen a machine shop so this will give you an idea of what your in for. i bought a full drivers quarter. all rear sheet metal and a full pan.

if you are replacing the frame rails it will be easy to do this project but since im not and im replacing the quarter skins anyway this is my way "in".

go to my photobucket link for frame charts. I ordered them off ebay last year. They're there for anyone who needs them now.

That looks like a VIN tag donor for one of those new Camaro shells. eek I guess it depends on your skill and your free time, but I would be running scared of getting into something that far rotted. I've seen worse return from death's door though. There was a GTO at a recent show that looked like it had been stored in mud half way up. Browsing through his album, which he was rightfully very proud of, the bottom half of the car was completely gone. The completed restoration looked better than off the showroom floor. The owner worked at a Pontiac dealer, so I guess that helped gathering parts.

I went by my local resto-Goodmark shop at lunch to talk about whatever condition car I may find since he supplies me with parts and advise. He has a 68 RS-SS Camaro Vert he's doing for a client. I'd been keeping track of it but hadn't gone up in awhile because of my cast. (That's NOW OFF! BTW)
The only reused body parts are the firewall, windshield frame and rear seat brace.
They replaced everything else, everything! Brett told me he'll has about $25-30,000, mainly labor, in it and it's now just a rolling shell. No paint. Figures the guy will have between $50-60K in it when finished.
The only thing making it worth it is that little tag on the firewall telling it's an RS-SS.

lol...one of those tags sold on ebay recently for 750$. kinda makes ya sick sometimes knowing thats the only thing worth while on the car. the guy who sold it is an hour away and im thinking of paying him a visit to talk about a 68 rs-ss he has. doesn't want much for it either.

LOL, just saw this. I just started a new job, so... Hopefully I never have to sell Her. My 67 Chevy C20 is still for sale. Under $100 to restore + paint & you have a very nice classic truck to haul your Bird to the shows.
