I bought a complete floor pan, firewall & Inner cowl panal and this support is not included, It's a 69 Firebird convertible and it goes under the floor pan, I got all the convertible braces for the car but this was not there. Anybody know what this is called and where I can get it
Thanks Zak

I don't know if anyone reproduces those. When the bodyshop replaced my whole floor, they cut out around those additional braces in the 'vert and ground off the sheet metal. When reinstalling, they put the one-piece floor back in and plug welded it like the factory.

69 Firebird Convertible, Crystal Turquoise Metallic, Parchment Interior, White Top. Fold-down back seat.
I found them in a NPD Camero Catalog, they are called Firewall to floorpan brackets, The tech there told me they were not for the firebird but they look just like mine, He told me the firebird never had them, Which is funny because Ron (the guy welding the sheet metal) has a 67 and 68 convertible untouched and they are not there. He's had the 68 since he was 16 it was his dads and he's 56 now.

My convertible has those as well, my coupe doesn't. Why would Fisher body produce the Camaro with these and not the Firebird. Both cousin cars rolled of the same assembly line. It would have been more costly to make different versions between GM divisions.
The debate over the '67-8 convertibles having these is evedent in the pictures posted. The guy doing the welding on your car, I bet his memory is a little rusty... pun intended.
Zak, the person you spoke with at NPD isn't a 'tech'. He's a phone jockey that may or may not have a background in the automotive trades. If he does, he probably doesn't own a vintage car or know much about them.
Personally I have had a few transactions with NPD where I was given bad information resulting in returning several part orders. I now only use them if they're the only supplier of a part I need.
Ames has these floor/firewall extensions to @ $49.00. And they know what they're talkin' about. If the sales person doesn't own the particular (model & year) car your ordering parts for, he'll ask someone who does. Ames has been very helpful when I needed questions answered.
The 68 convert im doing has them. A friend in the Camaro world said these were added to keep the flex down from the firewall to the floor pan by tieing it into the rockers. Mine had some serious welding done to attach it to the firewall and to the floor.
That part was not on any of my 69s..(1 coupe, 2 converts). (Coupe was from midwest, one vert came from midwest, one vert from CA). The one current CA convt I have looks untouched for frame/floors, so, I have to wonder if its really a 67-68 thing?
Well the welding guy Ron still has the birds I was talking about in the early post, and I saw that the braces were not there, He said sometimes it depends where the bird was made. The guy at NPD was "A Tech" the desk jockey transfered me to him, I even posed the question to Year One after waiting on the phone for 45 mins for a tech, I finally hung up and e-Mailed the tech support. They never returned my call or E-Mail
I have heard weird things about the factory site differences, Like my Vent ducts are the = style and a lot of 69's I see have the + style vents.
I'm buying the camero ones and replacing the brackets anyway, someone put them there for a reason.
Thanks for everyone help I'll have more questions, as the car is ready for welding.
