The courtesy lights in our 68 coupe stay on all the time. After we checked the dome light wiring and pulled then reinstalled the kick panel bulbs the lights turned off as they should when the door was closed. We checked the headlight switch and it turned them on/off properly too. We then opened/closed both doors several times and they worked correctly. I started the car a while ago and closed the door and the lights wouldn't go out again. Any ideas on where a hot wire may be grounding out? Should we replace the driver's door jamb switch? It seems hard to push and that was the door that I opened when the lights stayed on again. Liz
The dome light circuit has power running to the light and grounds through the door jamb switches. If either of your switches is grounding the light won't shut off.
I just had the same problem with my vert...when both bulbs were in and I shut the doors ,both lights stayed on...took out drivers bulb ,passenger side would light up and go off as I opened/closed drivers door!! lubricated jamb switches, now work fine...
