DOES ANYONE KNOW THE DEPTH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE A/C BOX AND THE NON A/C BOX? IF I PUT AN A/C BOX IN A NON A/C CAR WILL I PICK UP THE INCH AND ONE HALF OR SO I NEED TO MOUNT THE POWER HEAD OF MY SECRET AUDIO? MY GLOVES ARE SMALL ANYWAY.........THANKS JOHN
There is plenty of room to mount the Secret Audio box above the glovebox. That's where I put mine and the AC and the glovebox are not obstructed at all. I used a lot of industrial strength Velcro and a pipe strap for redundancy. Don't know long term if it will hold but so far so good.
Jim, that's the location where the factory mounted the stereo multiplexer. I think hammered put some of his FI electronics in that location as well. Above the glove box is a great place to hide small components.
Cat, if your reusing your old glove box, be as careful as you can removing it. It's old and brittle and will fall apart easily. No great loss since you were thinking of replacement anyway.
THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION. YOU SAVED ME THE PRICE OF A NEW GLOVE BOX. MY GLOVES DON'T APPRECIATE IT BUT I DO..........THANKS AGAIN,JOHN
I put all my Secret Audio equipment in the trunk. I had to put the CD changer there anyway so why not get it all in one place? Easy to get to if you want to add things in like an Ipod connection.

I thought about that too but the front mount antenna was a consideration in the placement. I wanted to plug and play with the existing original antenna and cable, without additional db loss.

Yah. That does make a difference. I have the trunk mounted attenna. Although I never listen to the radio anymore due to the bad reception and sound quality compared to the CD's. When I finally get the Ipod hook up I probably will not listen to very many CD's. It's one of those things. When something 'new' comes out with better sound quality the 'old' gets forgotten.
Yea it's funny with the advances in hard drive technology the CD is almost obsolete. When I can afford a storage device, I'll have one big enough to store all my CD's on. Freedom from lugging around a CD wallet and possible theft of is my goal.
Buy a new repro glove box housing, then chop to fit your stereo CD player in.
You can keep the upper dash stereo original, nobody will see it in the glovebox, and you can control remotely.
Budda bing!
The other option we've tried is our MP3 Player and a frequency sender unit ( cheap, about 20 bucks) that sends the MP3 songs to the original AM/FM radio in the upper dash. This works fine unless there is alot of local FM radio interference.
