Ok I know this is a stupid question, but I need to know the location of where my starter goes on my 400 engine when I recieved it, I have only worked on fords and for some reason I can find the mounting location!!! Help Any pics would be great too!

The starter has a shim to adjust the mesh. Don't forget to setup the shim thickness. You can buy these from Ames Performance or others. There's a drawing of the starter on
Actually, I found that your local parts house that carries a good assortment of the "Help!" type items will have the GM starter shims.
No need to pay for shipping of these unless you can't find them locally.

Scepi, any starter you buy will probably have a free set of shims in the box. By the way, I recall a few members here are from your town, so do a search of this site and find them. That way you can also make some friends and get help in person.
