I bought the whole replacement trunk pan and there are two holes below the shock tower on the floor of the trunk that I have no idea what they are for. Is it for a option or something for the Camaro, I believe this pan will fit both. Look at the pics and let me know. I didn't see anything here on my old pan

as i stated, my full coupe pan does not have these holes. they may have relocated your shaker hole more forward or it maybe a hole for the dynacorn production run but its definitely not on mine! the only diff. is my pan is a 67/8 pan and yours is a 69. they install a fixture where this hole is to set the gap between the trunk and upper rear cowl panel to get the foundation on the bodies straight.
it looks like you are replacing the whole rear of the car. do you have more pictures of it and have you done this before? im doing this to my coupe but have not completely cut things apart as i have no one to consult on the process. i need full rear trunk pan, both quarters and all wheelhouses replaced. i've considered cutting it apart and replacing the rails at the same time for ease but if i do i have to have someone to talk to on this as i know nobody who can do this to its extent!

I am replacing just about every piece of metal on this car, Dash to rear panel, New Quarters, Fenders, full floor pan, Full trunk pan, Rear panel (can't find reproduction one for 69) New Fenders, Hood, Wheelhouses, Inner rockers Firewall , Cowl, All Convertible bracing door shells and frame rails. I've already put 15 grand in it. The welding is starting now as all the parts are in.
I'm not doing it myself, I hired a guy who races a 68, has another 68, a 67 and a 65 Bonneville,
Before he cut the car apart he welded square tube pipe all over the car and working on certain areas at a time, I've seen other cars he's done and they look great, He really pay attention to detail.
I'm putting pictures on a web site that I'm making to can track the progress there www.DJZak.net, He races one of his firebirds a 68 and sometimes he's out of time racing so there is a lull in the progress.
I can send you some of the pics I got so far.

Have you ever seen the DVD that Hot Rod Mag. came out with? I bought it. It shows you step by step on what and how to do exactly what your starting to do. I have found it very informational. I will see if I can make a copy if your intrested
I am also doing a lot of metal replacement in my 69 coupe(trunk floor, wheel houses, framerails, quarters and full floor) I have finished welding in new toeboards and drivers inner rocker and am getting ready to put in the floor. I have my shell sitting on a wheeled frame supporting the underside of the rockers. My plans are to leave the old wheelhouses, quarters and tailpan intact for now. I will weld a brace across the tailpan, then run supports from it to my shop floor. I will cut out some of the trunk floor behind the back seat as well as the front foot or so of the frame rails so I can put my floor pan in from underneath. After welding in the floor to the rockers and toeboards for structural stability I was going to cut ot the rest of the trunk floor and frame-rails. From here I will replace the inner fenderwells, put full trunk in from underneath, and then new framerails. I would then cut out the old quarters and do the outer wheelwell and install the new quarter (one side at a time). Now for the disclaimer, I have never done a project this indepth before either (quarters and doorskins mostly so far)so any advice would be appreciated. If you like I will try and get a few photo's and will give you updates on how it comes together.
I changed my full floor/trunk also. My full trunk has the same holes as yours. I don't recall if the original trunk had them (it was so badly rusted, it was hard to see much). I have no idea what they're used for.
I have a 69 vert, and I do NOT have these holes. Yes I have the original trunk.
I believe these holes are for the manufacturer for indexing while the pan is being manufactured. Being on the edges tells me that they may locate with these holes to stamp or cut during subsequent operations.

in your quote of your process, you will have things in the way of your installation! the bracing the tail pan from the frame rails in the rear will be ok but you will not get the in with the rear valance in place! i know because i pulled a full pan out of a car that had been temporarily installed into it. the rear inner valance was a real b!@th to get around! we fought for 45 minutes to get it past the outer wheelhouses enough to drop it and force it out of the trunk well area. it didnt like coming out but it had no choice. i said it was comin out and thus it did. bent the forward lip a little but got it to co-operate. you will not be able to do this very well the way you plan it.
if your not replacing the rear valance i would change my plan of attack! possibly start with the 1/4 and wheelhouses on one side. replace the outer and 1/4 of one side to have a solid reference point. while your in there you can replace the trunk or not! make sure you brace EVERYTHING so nothing moves! i just got an idea and will use it in my process. if you are replacing full 1/4's you shouldnt go all the way to the of the lead seem. its a real PITA! cut the sail panel closer to the body line to stay out of this area! it will save ALOT of time! if you pm me i can send you my address and maybe even a few pictures of what i've done to show you how much is involved.
when i was in the lead seem, i couldnt get the spot welds to break on the inside of the roof so i now have to replace my roof in this process. had to from the start but was going to save it. now im in for the long haul!
