Our Bird came without a back-up light switch so we purchased one from Ames. The only problem is that there is nothing to hold it in place. We've tied it on with a cable tie but over time it has slipped back so the switch doesn't engage anymore. Does anyone know what is needed? This is for a '68 3-spd MT.
Vikki (Yellowbird) has a downloadable illustrations manual that shows the different transmissions and their backup light mechanisms. I suggest looking at it and taking it from there.
My WebTV system couldn't download such a large document. I think the bracket is there but will have to double-check that tomorrow. Is there some type of nut that should be on the bracket?
the bracket mounts to the trans in front of the linkage with a black plastic push button switch with a fair amout of threads in front of it. almost like the brake light switch.
Took the switch off and found the plunger was sticking. Decided since it wasn't working to tear it apart. Ended up fixing it at least for a while. Nothing was wrong with the bracket after all. Thanks everyone.
