My best friend took my sub-frame off last year while I was at work and when he put it back together last week I had 2 really thick washers left.My manual doesn't show where they go. would one of you guys know right off hand?? Thanks again, Ray
P.S. Thanks for the info on the Safe-t-track rearend
there should be a metal washer between each bolt head and rubber bushing on the bottom side.
there are six locations. 3 on each side.
at the rear of the subframe, at the front of the body (firewall), and at the radiator core support.
the bolts go from the bottom to the top, put together in this order: bolt, metal washer, rubber bushing with sleeve, frame, rubber (donut) bushing, body.
hope this helps....perhaps your core support is not in yet?
OK, I have my new body mount and hardward kit out of the box and displayed out in front of me.
2 things jump out at me. First, the body bolts are a larger diameter than the radiator core support bolts and there are (of course) four of them. The other is that there is are 2 washers of different sizes for each the radiator core bolts (8 washers in total)
The parts list that came with the hardware says I have 2 "special thick lower washers" for the radiator support. However, all 8 washers are really about the same thickness.
Anyway, that means there are 4 matching body washers that are identical and have holes in them large enough to handle the 5/8's diameter body bolts. They are also about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. None of the 4 washers for the radiator support mount have a large enough hole for the body mount bolts. The larger of the radiator washers is 2-3/16 in diameter, the other is 1-1/2 inches in diameter. the radiator mount bolts are only 1/2 inch in diameter.
According to the diassembly pictures I took and the '67 Camaro assembly manual, the 2-3/16 inch washer goes under the bolt head at the top of the radiator mount assembly and the smaller 1-1/2 washer goes between above the nut and lock washer at the bottome of the radiator support mount (i.e., against the frame).
I hope this helps.

It sounds like my 2 specially thick washers go in the frame rails for the radiator support. All my washers are about the same diameter but 2 of them are really thick compared to all the others. I'm talking almost 3/8" thick so it makes sense to have them for the radiator support. These are the oem washers that came off the car to begin with. Again thanks for the help and hopefully I'll have this car together before long.
Ray not sure what year you have but 67-69 shuold be the same. I have the drawing in my assembly manual for my 69. Have one for the body mount and one for the core support. If you want it send me an e-mail at firebird69racer@yahoo.com and I will send it to you.
