I just replaced the 14" rally II wheels on my 68 (with cragars) and was wondering if there is a way to tell if the ones that came off are originals or knockoffs. Just by looking at them, they appear to be original but have been restored...the silver/gray paint on the spokes is not perfect. The wheels look good and the trim rings & center caps are in great shape with a nice set of goodyear eagle gt tires on them. I guess what I'm getting at is how much would they be worth if I decide to get rid of em???
Check the stampings inside the wheels. These will identify the wheels. Here's a link that will help you interpret the stampings. I've seen rally IIs go for anywhere from $25 to $75 a piece (just the wheels - no center caps or trim rings). You might want to keep them.
Dave, I wholeheartedly agree with Vince when he says keep the rallys. Unless you really need the money. As one that has traded off or thrown away enough good parts that I ended up having to repurchasing years later, I would advise hanging on to everything that you have room for.
Yea I'll more than likely hang on to em, guess I'm just trying to satisfy the ole curiosity . They do take up a lotta room in the garage...maybe that will inspire me to build that workshop I've been dreamin about :p (it's on my wish list...and the list is long). Thanks for the replies Robert and Vince...appreciate the link too.
