Yes with a caveat: In botanical classifications it's a fruit but in it's usage it's a veggie.

Tomatoe /tomato..potatoe / potato

makes me think of something most Americans are unaware of...Potatoes being an American product brought to Europe after Columbus had been here (great for Europe by the way , saved MANY people from Starving in the 1800`s)....Potatoes arrived , became a slow process to become popular, first thought to be poisonous, because many people ate the "fruit" instead of the root balls...the green "tomatoe like" fruits on a potatoe is poisonous...took maybe 200 yrs before potatoes became a staple...Swedes are so into potatoes..its used for many things ,eaten with almost every meal, even sometimes side by side with rice! and used for making Akvavit

just some trivia..

hmmm.......i hope this has answered your question johnny. although i don't think it has, i'm sure your work chat will be just as scatter as this post! everybody has there own definition of fruit and veggie. it just depends on what you consider it!

lmfao @ bigbird. your getting closer to getting that thing going again man! looking nice. is that your base color or your primer shot? if your going with a bright color, shoot it white first. shoot it silver for a black finish and red for a bright color like orange.

My paint guy recommends a yellow sealer under any red and under black it doesn't matter because you have to seal it with black anyway.

Interesting about potatos, never knew that.

My parents are from Northern Germany and growing up there were boiled potatos every day. After college and going off on my own, it was nice to cook and experience a side that wasn't a potato. But now I find myself making them more and more.

Growing up in Sweden, I`m a meat and potato guy (WITH gravy!)
I like potatoes in many forms...my ex once gave me a small potato cookbook, 200 potato recepies!
If you like cooking ,try "Hasselback potatos" I`ll see if theres a recipe online if not I`ll make one
found them , LOTS of recipes...

but I never add the parmesan or bread crumbs to mine, just the plain butter ,brush it on evety 5-10 minutes so it slides down into the cuts...I never turn them either , just top side up...my kids LOVE these!

and cook at 425 in oven for 45 minutes!just plain and with butter is the best...adding all the other stuff doesnt really "add" anything, just losing the potato taste!

How about some potato Vodka? Bjorn is right on with the 'Hasselback Potatos'. That's a great recipe! (Use the parmesan) He knows his 'taters. LOL

Oh Yes! When "MountainKing " potatoes came to Houston 15 yrs ago ,they had a recipe contest on the radio.."send in your best potato recipe"...I did, the " janssons temptation " recipe...I got called in ,being one of the five finalists to bring dish to the radio station....me and 4 women...I cooked mine night before , brought in a cold dish with foil on it...the other 4 contestsnt sat there with warmers etc...talking to ea other, about being up all night etc...
guy comes in says " 5 minutes to show time"...I ask "do you have a microwave? I need to heat them up"

ladies snicker "he`s going to heat them up in a microwave!" LOL

Guess who won!?! I gottwo days hotel stay on the River in San Antonio! and several bags of Mountain King potatos!

and this recipe is pretty close my my winning one... just use anchovie fillets in OIL, and pour that over the dish as you put the anchiovies in...
and let me tell you, I dont LIKE anchovies, but in this dish its great!cook for 40-45 minutes at 425F!

Congrats Bjorn! I saw those Hasselbacks about a year ago on Emeril Live. They had the Haselbacks on the show as guests. I tried em and they were an immediate hit. And the funny thing, if you are in a hurry, finish them up in the microwave. They always seem to take a long time to get done.
I have to try out those, 'award winning' potatos too. Looks like a winner from the recipe.

yep, I know my taters...but I`m not known as "tater salad" !lol

Potato Vodka, yes great stuff , thats called Akvavit!
Spiced different ways, great with Jansons Temptation, meat balls and crisp bread!

yep, and You probably know that apple seeds are poisonous....they are so small, that a large amount usually only gives stomach aches, but a big dose could actually kill you

As small town near me that was named by Indians is Pinconning. It means 'small potatoes'. So our aborigines had them in mind too.

yes, and you probably know that apple seeds also are poisonous...but being so small, you need a large amount to take effect, "normally if you eat some you only get stomach ache ,but a large quntity to actually kill....if I remember right , its cyanide in them?

Yep. Ya have to be careful with horses having a field or pen near a fruiting apple tree. It takes a lot of apples to make a horse sick, but they're like candy to them.



Belladonna was used to put 'spells' on people in earlier centuries. Other members of this toxic family are Tobacco and my favorite Chili Pepers.

Bella Donna = spanish for Beautiful Woman...was also used in Spain to drop into Womens eyes,it dilates the pupils , so "they look good", unfortunately they dont see so well...lol

thats why they do it! so they dont have to see there date for the evening while still imagining hes the hottest man on earth!!!! lol women do strange things to look good!

There's nothing like full fat, high calories for taste. Real butter, not the yellowish/white stuff in a plastic tub and gravy from the fat drippings (all natural-no chemicals)

I like boiled taters with butter and fresh parsley, and a big fat NY strip. (med-rare)

Back to the topic.......

How can the one guy say that beans are in the meat group. Last time I checked, vegans use soybeans!!! If they were grouped into meats those poor people would starve.

I'm preparing a meal for my Ex-wife. What would you recommend besides an apple seed parfait?
