What have you done for a radio in a 67??? I feel like it would be a mortal sin to cut a stock dash to fit a new style radio. Any pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

A company is making repro AM/FM radios for about $500 - they look like original but have modern guts and use modern speakers. If you're interested, I can try and find the link. They were selling them on e-bay. At that time they only had the black cramaro face plate, not the wood grain. Not sure if you can only use their face plate or if the original would work.
and that´s their radio after installing the correct Radio knobs I got from Terry (and a correct burlwood radio face bezel I finally found on ebay -- their´s black):
In contrast to their vendor on ebay they sell this radio themselfes for $595.00
Here it is before installation (much shorter than the original one...):

yes, that´s a stock face plate without any modification. Togethet with the radio comes the correct black becel (diecast with chromed edges) that has been available in 67/68 for Camaros and Firebirds and that´s once again available as a correct repro part today. I had some luck and finally got my hands on a fine looking burlwood radio becel on ebay (after several frustating attemps, I have to admit..). No problems at all...
Here you see the fitment bofore installing the correct radio knobs:
Here is the radio we are putting in our car. We liked the MP3 and CD features. About $250 which fit our budget. This is the custom autosound USA-630 model.

We were thinking 5x7's in the rear arm rests and 4x6's in the kick panels and maybe a filler in the dash. Havent purchased them yet, still weighing options.
I have a 1969 Pontiac Firebird and had a hard time finding a radio. Finally got a USA-740 from www.vintagecarradio.com. It came in about week after ordering it and plan on installing it tomorrow. Will let you know how it sounds.

Thanks for sharing Bob, looking forward to hearing back on how it sounds and works. Am also interested in the fit and if you had to cut the bezel at all as all the others in the past that I have seen required a little bit of cutting. Please post some pics also if possible. Thanks

I'm listening to this thread also!! we have the original unmolested radio installed and a quick release supertuner mounted uder the dash. Have round speakers 6" that I cut into the doors in the early 80's (more like butchered into the doors)
Sounds like crap,so, we may have to do something down the line.
