Can anyone help with a couple more front end questions? Are there any major concerns I should be worried about if I were to install new front springs that will lower the car 1-2 inches? Also, I noticed some of the parts distributors group the Firebird with the Camaros and list a big block and small block application. Would a big block Chevy be closer in weight to a Pontiac engine. I am looking for a 400 - 455 engine to swap out my 350 with so that would be the engine size I want to match the springs with. Thanks for any info that can be provided.
the BB chevy dropped springs may be what you're looking for.
there have been instances both here and on the camarotech forums of moog and other springs which were supposed to be correct bringing up the front too high. you probably wont have that problem with dropped springs. there are springs available with adjustable heights. i have seen some camaro pictures with moog cs6308 springs. they look pretty good. i used cs6312, i think, and if i cut off a coil or 2 with my 6cy they might sit right.
i think some 'bird lovers here had good luck with ames springs. i dont know from dropped springs tho'.
I've read that the eibach 1" lowering springs for the SB camaro might be the ticket. Since our engines are a bit heavier you'll probably get a tad more drop out of them on the bird. I've decided to try them out but wont be able to let you know how it goes till after christmas. Santa is bringing them! Nick
