I re-polished and painted my own hood and trunk "400" emblems. I'm sure they are not the exact correct color but they are close. I wasn't that picky about the color. They turned out real nice and it was pretty simple to do. Take a look at the FAQ section on this site and it will tell you how to do it.
The reproductions aren't cheap and NOS ones are real $$$. I saw a single NOS "bird" emblem sell for $85 on e-bay. You can do it yourself and do a good enough job that hardly anyone could tell you did it. Besides, it only costs a couple of bucks for some model paint.
