Not direct. The spring perches have to be cut off and re-welded. In the second gen burds they are straight. In a first gen they are angled and slightly inboard.
An 8.5 out of a '71-79? Nova will bolt in with a different u-joint. Done some research on this switch, 70-71 Novas use dthe 8.2 Chevy rear and most later 70's Novas used the 7.5 rear. There is a Nova sight that will tell which models and years used the 8.5. Very few will have a posi, most used highway gears.
I have no doubt that that's true. What I do know is that the spring perches on the '70 and later F-Body 8.5" are straight and outboard of the First Gen locations. I do not know if this is also true of the Nova 8.5" rear end. That was my question.
the guys on the camarotech site say the nova is a direct bolt in for 1stgen camaros up to '75. i guess that is the same for the bird except for the u-joint.? of course they also say the bird rear is direct bolt in, and i've been told the ujoints are different.
