By the way, when taking my motor out I had asked for advice on getting it out with or without the transmission. I had opted to seperate the muncie and take out the motor, while supporting the transmission with my floor jack.
Many of you mentioned taking a hammer to my crossmember and getting it out. I DID do that and it worked with little hammering. THANKS FOR THAT ADVICE. That was required to get the motor and transmission back in.
I had a little time on my hands when putting the motor back in, so chose to try my hand at aligning the clutch, and putting the motor in the car without the muncie. I figured I could stab it in fairly easy. I was wrong!!!
Everyone who spoke up and said mount the muncie before installing the motor, you were all RIGHT!!!
I took the motor out after numerous attempts of stabbing the muncie, worn out shoulder muscles, and enough fussing at my wife about raising the jack and lowering it and holding the light...
It's amazing how foolish I was. Sometimes I believe I can do something others say I can't, thats dumb.
Take my word if you are putting a motor in with four speed, attach it all before installing it into the car. I promise you it is easier this way.
Thanks to all of you, my hat goes off to you. Please don't mistake me for being stubborn just yet.
LOL Nothing like having done it a gazillion times to know what works! And you can be sure that even those with the best advice did it wrong at least once too.
