Anyone have any suggestions on removing a radio knob that might be glued on before I start grinding and cutting. The volume knob pulled right off but the dial knob is on tight, I'm scared to pull any harder I may yank the radio through the dash.
If you can get some space between the dash and the shaft, you might be able to use a very thin soldering iron to heat up the shaft enough that it might loosen the glue? (But...Id really steer clear of the dash for fear of melting it). You could also use a lt spray of solvent, but, be sure to mask and protect everything around it for fear of taking off paint. As a last resort Id use a dremel tool on the knob, (not the shaft or threads), ...but only if I had another knob to replace it with. Have you tried tapping into it lightly with a rubber mallet? Perhaps a tap into it, then pull back on it, back and forth motion?
If your radio is mounted correctly the radio isn't going anywhere. Pull 'till it bleads. Don't try to pry it from the back of the knob. You may bend the shaft.
I was getting ready to cut it off with my dremel tool when I decided to give it one last pull with a pair of pliers I had handy. Off it came and we went flying into the back seat. Now I can get back to removing my dash, wonder what I run into next. Thanks everyone for the help,
Use an open end wrench that fits, place a towel and pry off. Need to place equal pressureabove and below and on as much of the knob surface as possible.
I would try rapping the knob (depending on knob cond.) with a solid item to maybe loosen up/crack varnish or gum that is holding it on there.
I would also consider that the previous owner used epoxy or super glue to attach the knob. There is a small metal D shaped ring that if missing, is hard to replace. Glue is the ultimate solution.

Yah! I've been coaching him on PM's. After all, I helped him find the car. I was stumped with the radio knob though. I figured it must have been glued on. He's got me locked in as a consult with that gift of a free back seat frame! Thanks again Kerry!
Cool, I didn't want him trying to pull the light switch knob off. I've had some radio knobs with the same problem. I made the mistake of trying to pop one off prying it with a screw driver. I bent the shaft.
