Is there a difference between the lower section of a 69' firebird and the lower section of 69' camaro tailpanel? Thanks,
David

Lee,If you have some pics and if not much trouble that would help. Would the difference be in the bumper mounting hole locations? Alternate plan is to salvage the good firebird upper tail light portion and use a good used or repop camaro section if it would work as a good used complete firebird tailpanel seems to be elusive.

I'll have to check the pics and if I have any notes on what was different. I'll make some notes on the pic and post it later. The taillights are different so I was only able to use sections of the panel.

Well, I don't think I have any notes but I should be able to do this from memory. First Pic: Area A: the distance from the bottom of the panel to the body line under the bumper is longer on the Camaro panel. If I remember right it was 3/8" to 1/2" more. Area B: the end of the Camaro body line turns up in the last 2-3 inches. My original(?) had too much filler in those areas to tell what it was supposed look like, but it didn't appear to turn up like that. Area C: Has a bumper (or ?) mounting plate on the back side with a single hole through the panel there. Easy to remove and weld up the hole. Other: Is the obvious area around the license plate. Not at all like the Firebird.
You can see from the other pics where I sectioned the panel and used the outer parts of the lower valance.

Someone mentioned Paddock Parts has a repro 69 tail panel for firebird. I went to the site yesterday, and yes they have it for $369 if I recall, they claim the excellent quality. The parts place has been advertising also, but it must be a different supplier since they are not ready for production yet.
Lee,thanks very much for the pictures! They are a big help!
