1) Bolts. Is there anything special about exhaust manifold bolts? Can I just use a good quality grade 6 or 8?....any kind of bolt sealant or not ( my old bolts have some orange residue that looks like a sealant)?
2) CI sent me a oil filter relocation kit but it only is one piece. It is round and fits where the old one went but they didn't include a gasket. anyone know the part # for the correct gasket for this re locater? should there be more to the kit?
3) My old oil filter mounting bracket has a hole for the OP sensor(I think). where can I mount that sensor now?
Hmm, I got the relocation kit through Ames and it came with gaskets. Check the CI catalog to see if they sell then separately. Ames also has a bolt kit, but I think it's for the reproduction manifolds. I found several to long or short for factory LB's. I'll be using some never-seize on the threads so they don't snap off like the last go 'round. My LB filter housing has a port for the oil pressure gauge. I've heard some use the tapping for the lifter galley on the distributer pad. I'm sure you would need a fitting for that app.
I would use grade 8 as sometimes the heat and expansion/contraction makes them tough to remove, and you do not want to break a bolt. Use anti-seize on the bolts.
I would buy an OEM or reproduction angled oil filter adaptor. That way, you do not need to relocate the sending unit....And it looks better and original. The oil filter relocation kits are ugly, cumbersome and look like, well, IMO crap.
After looking at those links it was clear I have something other than that. I ck'd CI catalog and they sent me their # G700 or G9413 which is a 1977-97 oil filter adapter. DOH! It may work but compared, it looks like crap.(De ja vu) I'll order the one from the link...ty
Banshee, I'm with you on that. I would just buy the correct adapter from RARE. That is what I did and it works/looks perfect. There are pictures of this on my PhotoBucket page listed below...
